YouTube

Dr. Berg started his YouTube channel on November 23, 2008.

The channel has over 2 billion views and more than 10.06 million subscribers.

Keto Diet

He is an advocate of the keto diet, a very-low-carb, high-fat diet.

Usually, the keto diet uses the following macronutrient ratios:

  • 5 percent or less of calories from carbs  – for the majority of people, that is at most 30 to 50 g of net carbs a day;
  • 70 to 80 percent of calories from fats, like – grass-fed butter, coconut oil, olive oil, walnuts, avocados;
  • 20 to 30 percent of calories from protein.

Eric developed a unique keto diet program that helps people to lose weight.

During an interview, Eric said about his program:

”My latest Keto program and diet strategies have been designed to change that.”

Dr. Berg went on to say:

”I have developed this plan using a combination of intermittent fasting, low carb diet tips, and unique Ketogenic diet strategies to give my clients better control over their bodies in today’s fast-paced life.”

He also said:

”The diet is easy to follow and can be adapted to any kind of lifestyle as well as food preference such as vegans and vegetarians.”

Dr. Berg also advocates for intermittent fasting, an eating style where you eat within a specific time period and fast the rest of the time.

He recommends waiting at least 4 hours before eating your first meal of the day. The rest of your meals should be within an eight-hour window, and don’t eat anything until the next morning.

Promoters of intermittent fasting say that you can expect the following benefits:

  • makes cells more resilient;
  • boosts brain function;
  • improves memory;
  • boosts weight loss;
  • protects against neurodegenerative diseases;
  • promotes longevity;
  • increases energy;
  • lowers bad (LDL) cholesterol;
  • protects against type 2 diabetes mellitus;
  • promotes cellular repair and autophagy.

Controversy

The adrenals are two endocrine glands that sit on top of the kidneys and produce a few hormones.

In his teachings, videos, and books, Dr. Berg often mentions ‘adrenal fatigue,’ a term applied to a collection of nonspecific symptoms, such as digestive problems, sleep disturbances, nervousness, fatigue, and body aches.

The problem is that the term “adrenal fatigue” is not recognized by any endocrinology society.

For instance, according to a 2016 review of 58 studies, there is no scientific basis to associate adrenal impairment as a cause of fatigue.

In 2007, he was fined and reprimanded by the Virginia Board of Medicine for:

“…bogus muscle tests that supposedly are related to body organs.”

Books

In 2006, he authored a book titled – ”The 7 Principles of Fat Burning.” The book provides clear explanations of the principles of healthy weight loss.

Other books that he published on Amazon are:

  • The Healthy Keto Plan: Get Healthy, Lose Weight & Feel Great;
